What it means in practice

The booking links and availability widgets here go to GetYourGuide, a licensed online travel agency. If you book after following one, GetYourGuide pays me a percentage of what you spent. You pay exactly what you would have paid going to GetYourGuide directly, because the commission comes out of their margin rather than your pocket. Prices printed on this site are the “from” figures GetYourGuide displayed at the time of writing, and the widget beside them re-prices by date, option and party size.

What it does not mean

It does not buy a recommendation, and the shape of this site is the evidence. The page I send most readers to is tour or ferry, which exists to tell about half of them that the scheduled boat is all they need and that no tour on this site is a better way to reach Capri. I earn precisely nothing when somebody reads that and buys a ferry ticket at the pier. The same applies to the ferry page, which is the most useful thing here and the least profitable.

What I am not

Not a boat operator, not a ferry company, not the commune of Positano and not GetYourGuide. I never name the operator behind a listing; I name skippers and guides only when reviewers named them first. Ratings and review counts are copied from GetYourGuide unrounded and always sit beside a live widget, so you can see the current figure rather than mine. Where the reviewer material is thin I say so on the page instead of inventing more of it, which is why two of the six write-ups at the reviews open by telling you how few people are behind the score. Fares and municipal fees quoted here are the published position at the time of writing and are always hedged — confirm them before you travel.
